Abstract

A machine for transferring rectangular slices of a prod. e.g. rusks, squares of toast etc. to a wrapping machine from a horizontal conveyor belt on which the slices are received lying flat on the belt in regular, spaced transverse ranks and longitudinal files. The slices in each file are rearranged in upright positions and collected into aligned, counted sets. The sets are passed in succession to the infeed of a wrapping machine. The slices in each file are pref. divided as they leave the horizontal conveyor, alternate slices being directed to two rearranging and counting devices operating in parallel. The slices for each rearranging device are pref. taken from the horizontal conveyor belt between upper and lower, foam-covered, narrow bands. The slices are punched by rotary brushes through an aligning corridor with laterally oscillating side-walls. They are then brought to an upright position by releasing them, one at a time, down an inclined plane to be counted into sets.
