Abstract

The protective cover for an electrical plug consists of half shells (1, 2) formed of metal or plastic. The half shells are fastened together by a transverse hinge pin (3). A hole for the cable is provided at the hinge end and a grub screw (6) clamps the cable when the half shells are closed. The half shells are held closed by projections (4) in the half shell (1) which fit with a snap action into recesses in the half shell (2). A plate which covers the hole (9) when the plug is not is use, is removed and fitted in the external grooves (11) when the plug is fitted into its socket. The protective cover can also be used with pneumatic and hydraulic pipe couplings.
