Abstract

The base (16) of the fitting is screwed to the body or support and carries a circular section shank (22) projecting at right angles. This shank extends on one side (28) into an inverted U section slip, the other limb (30) of which is separated from the shank by a small clearance. Near the end, the free limb is thickened (32) to project (34) beyond the shank thickness, thus forming a latch for the eyelet (12). The latter just fits on the shank and is slightly thinner than the clearance between latch and base. A spigot (40) on the inner edge of the free limb locates in a depression (42) formed in the shank and prevents the U-section opening up. This feature is useful when a tie down cable is also run through the fitting.
