Abstract

The contact lens for correcting long sightedness comprises elements for two different correction ranges, i.e. a lunule (1) for near vision correction which is situated in the lower part of the lens and over the rest of the surface, (2) and element for long vision. The lower extremity of the lens has a part (3) of low thickness which can be engaged behind the lower eyelid. This part is limited by a shoulder on the external faces which is placed against the edge of the eyelid. The upper part of the lens has a region (5) relieved by thinning down and which makes it easy for the lower eyelid to push the lens upwards for near vision. The height (e) of the thin lower part and the height (h) of the longsight correction lunule are determined as a function of the distances (a, b) separating the centre of the cornea from the edge of the lower eyelid: e = R-a and h = R+100+b-a) where R is the radius of the lens.
