Abstract

The mould is first reated with a heat resistant parting agent, tow hcih a lacquer is then applied. The synthetic compsn. or th ruber mixt. is filled in to the mould, cross-linking or vulcaniseD, and then removed. The procedure allows cross-linked or vulcanised mouldings to be prepd. with a lacquered surface without any additional working stages. By the choice of a suitable parting agent, the moulds may be used many times without intermediate cleaning. In an example, a steel mould was sprayed with PTFE and then baked 140 degrees C/10 minutes. A one component polyurethane lacquer was then sprayed on and dried at 140 degrees C/5 minute. The muld was filled with a reactive polyurethane compsn. which was reacted for 10 minutes; Max. temp. =55 degrees C. On removal, the moulding was coated with a smooth lacquer surface, and the mould was free from residual lacquer.
