Abstract

The inside of the windscreen is fitted with a patch of enamel which is applied before the glass is moulded into shape and which is fired into the glass surface by the subsequent heat treatment. It provides an attachment point for the adhesive on the driving mirror mounting foot, and being coloured, covers the adhesive patch so that it cannot be seen from the outside. The outside surface of the windscreen does not require any fitting, which would impede the wipers, and which would deteriorate with weathering. The enamel can be in the form of the windscreen maker's trademark and can be protected on the inside by a pull-off foil until the mirror is applied.
