Abstract

The plastics carrier has its front and back (1) interconnected by vertically pleated ends (2) and welded together at the bottom forming a ridge across the outside. A rectangular base is formed by two triangular folds (4), has the base reinforced by a flat insert (16). This insert is shaped so that the welding of these triangular folds is eliminated thus greatly simplifying the manufacture of the bag. The insert (16) has a deep V groove (17) notched out of each end, leaving two pointed extremes each end. These two points are fitted into the open pockets formed by the triangular folds, bending the insert to do so. This tensions the insert across the base and strengthens it.
