Abstract

A very large capacity semi trailer suitable for international use has a number of cross partitions dividing it up into compartments, front to rear, and swinging down sides for each compartment. Each side consists of an upper portion and a lower portion which slide telescopically into a lowered, horizontal discharge position, with one part on top of the other. Each side is lowered by a cable and pully arrangement with the cables controlled from one end of the framework and passing over horizontal and vertical pulleys (17, 20) at the top of each partition. A cover (11) forming the roof is rolled back in the manner of a roller blind. In an alternative design, the sides are lowered by a bevel gear drive arrangement.
