Abstract

The system is designed for sorting documents carrying classification marks. The system has a feed unit (11) which receives documents to be sorted. It has a number of receiving compartments for reception of documents sorted as a function of their markings. It has driving means arranged along a path, for passing the documents extracted from the feed unit towards the compartments. Analysing means are placed on this feed path so as to provide, from the documents marks, selection data defining the reception compartment towards which the document is to be forwarded. The system has a transport mechanism which displaces the reception compartments (C0, C1, C2, C3, C4) each one can be brought with respect to the feed path into a reception position. The compartment brought into this reception posiotn receives the documents which have advanced along the feed path.
