Abstract

The austenitic manganese steel parts are placed in a mould and the connecting ends are directly cast onto the parts. Before the parts are placed in the mould, they are provided with a sloping and pointed front surface onto which the connecting end is cast. The front surface is pref. provided with two tapered side surfaces which also mate with the cast connecting end. A strong cast joint is made between the part and its connecting end, avoiding cracks or breakage at the joint.
