Abstract

The filing cabinet is for large documents such as drawings, having a front panel forming a door, which opens by pivoting on two different axes. The first of these is at the base of the door, and allows this to open for normal access, up to a limited angle, at which it is held by links. The second axis is at a higher level and on the link ends, the base of the door being guided by pins working in grooves. The door swings down into a horizontal position to act as a table, typically at a height of one metre above the ground, whereas the first hinge axis is 50 cm above the ground.
