Abstract
The fire fighting hose is installed on a boat and is fitted on a support which moves horizontally and vertically. This is done by two separate motors one rotating a platform through gearing, the other driving a cam arrangement. Each motor is remotely controlled and automatically corrected to compensate for the swell and movement of water and boat. A sensor is fitted onto the nozzle of the hose and detected movements fed back to the computer. This computer is pre-programmed to aligh the nozzle on the fire and energise the motors to maintain this position.
