Abstract

The system of secondary single or double-glazing is for appendage to existing glazed or pivoting window sashes (2, 9) and converts the mobile panel into a double or triple glazed unit. The inner secondary pane may be omitted and replaced by a venetian blind (8). The resultant unit has improved thermal and acoustic insulation properties, and may also be used to control the passage of light. The glazing may be mounted in a double-channelled (5, 6) frame (1) which is fixed to the sash or door frame (2) by a 'Z' section (3). The edges of the panes (7) are located in the channels (5) by 'U' section rubber mountings (10) which eliminate vibration and form the seal.
