Abstract

The metal support for fruit trees or vines consists of a U-shaped peg (5) made by bendin a continuous strip of steel. The sides of the U are slightly inward-bent so that the beaters of the mechanical harvester are not damaged on the edges. Only the sides of the U-shaped peg which are above ground (5) are bent in. The part (9) which is buried in the ground is a U-shaped but without inward-bent sides so that the peg has larger contact surfaces with the ground. Alternatively, the same effect can be obtained with metal tube, the bottom end of which can be split and splayed out for inserting into the ground.
