Abstract

Automatic protection against faults in any one line of a multiphase power supply system, the fault line being automatically isolated dependant on the set threshold operating level of the circuit. The circuit can operate at mill-joule level, the operating signal being derived from two secondary windings on a toroidal core. The primary is a cable branched from the multiphase supply via circuit breaker contacts. The output from the sensor drives the circuit breaker energising coil. The operation is dependent upon the charging of a capacitor which is set to provide resonance with one of the secondary windings, the second winding providing a threshold voltage.
