Abstract

The cinematography film drive mechanism moves the film the required discontinuous stop-go motion by means of a sprocket wheel driven by a rachet controlled by a cam. The film (3) is moved past the optical aperture (5) by means of sprockets (2) engaging in holes (4) in the film. The sprocket-wheel (1) is turned in a stepped motion by means of a rachet (1a). The two sides of the rachet (8, 9) are kept in contact with a spring (19). The drive motion comes from a bracket (13, 15, 16) pivoting around a shaft (6) concentric with the sprocket wheel, and engaging with a pin (12) on the rachet. A cam (18) and a spring (17) cause the bracket (13, 15, 16) to move to and fro (14) to drive the rachet. Reverse motion of the sprocket wheel is prevented by a lever (23).
