Abstract

The jig comprises several cooperating measuring rods and a series of vehicle body supports in the form of U sections lying on their side. Several completely separate, identical measuring rods (1) are attached by parallel permanent magnets (6, 7) to the vertical base of the U support (8). Each rod has a pair of stops symmetrically straddling the rod and contacting the lower limb of the U. Oref. a gauge peg gauge (18) is fixed at right angles to the rod at the opposite end to the permanent magnet. The stops are in the form of pointed rods with the pointed end uppermost. The gauge peg (18) pref. has a millimeter scale and is especially useful for measuring distortion in vertical planes.
