Abstract

A plain or textured yarn is formed into chain stitch strands. The strands are woven to produce a simulated knitted fabric. The yarn may be composed of several yarn components twisted together having a twist level of 1-2 twists/cm. A woven material which has the appearance of knitted fabric is produced on cheaper machines than e.g. circular knitting machines required to produce a genuine knitted fabric. The material is strong, provides good oscillation and is highly absorbent.
