Abstract
A rectangular steel plate (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) has a central hole (12). Thirty four other holes are spaced in parallel lines, forming a regular pattern across its surface. In these rubber buffers (14, 141) are fitted, each being square and increasing in section from top to bottom, giving sloping sides. A set of buffers is mounted on each side of the plate. These assemblies are stacked with steel separator plates (20) between, ribs on each side acting as locators. Finally, a single unit (18) is formed by injecting plastics foam (28, 28a) to fill up all spaces except for the central hole (26); this accommodates the connecting rod when several units are assembled together.
