Abstract

Licking block or stone having curative properties for illnesses of ruminants and equine and asine species comprises a base of mineral salts, >=1 medicament and organoleptic agents. The quantity of medicament in the block corresponds to the curative dose of the active cpd. necessary for the illness and the quantity of organoleptics is such that ingestion of the block and the medicament it contains by the animals is completed in a day or 2 days at most. The principal organoleptic agent is sodium chloride preferably with a phosphate such as mono- or bi-calcium phosphate. Other organoleptics include anis, orange, caramel, glutamic acid, cyclamates, saccharinates, lucerne etc. The daily consumption of the block is 10-60g/100Kg body wt. of the animal pref. 40g/100 Kg body wt. and the curative dose of medicament comprises 0.5-20g/100Kg body wt.
