Abstract

The tool for cutting ceramic tiles to size consists of a worktable with a tool frame which carries the scratching wheel and a curved lever mechanism to apply a pressure on the pads on the tool frame to cause the tiles to crack. The lever mechanism can be swung clear to allow free access to the worktable. This makes it easier to adjust the tiles for the desired cut because the view of the operator is not obstructed. The upper legs of the two angles which form the worktable cary an elastic strip of material which has the same top edge as the cutting edge of the two crackling blades. The lever which acts on the roller to produce the cracking force can be swung open to give free access to the tile insertion area. Pads on the tool frame transmit the force to the tile.
