Abstract

For support a central stud i used wth a sole plate above it to distribute the stress. The 3.5-4.5 cm high stud (4) has flat sides and rounded ends. It tapers slightly towards its ribbed spherical cap, which contacts the ground. The symmetrical sole plate on which the stud is mounted has transverse ribs (10) on the underside to hold it firmly within the plaster bandage and a slight hump along one top edge to conform roughly to the arch of either foot. The stud can instead be square or the sole plate elliptical.
