Abstract

Rectangular plates (1) are slotted (4) about half way from edge to centre, to receive longitudinal supports (5) to form right angle joints. Grooves (6) are formed in the supports and are of such dimensions that a force fit is obtained. The slots in the plates are parallel to the plate edges and start at the mid points of the edges, but additional slots along the diagonals of the rectangle, may also be used. Longitudinal grooves along the thin edges of the support members can be used to support the edges of panels of wood or glass to form cupboards or shelves.
