Abstract

The disc brake housing is in two sections (12, 14) bolted together on the wheel suspension, and overlapping the rotary disc. Each section encloses a cylinder (20) with piston (22). Between each piston and the disc is a brake block (24) consisting of a brake lining (28) and bearing plate (30). The plate has holes through which rods (34) pass, parallel to the piston axes. There are shaped springs (38) restraining the brake blocks against axial and radial movement. The central U-section of the springs is anchored to projections (40) on housing. The support rods prevent rattling of the housing, and are made of sheet metal, shaped into a point at one end and a head with retainer lugs at the other.
