Abstract

The appts measures the tangential frictional force of a skid pad (60) on a soil surface. It comprises a guiding devive which can be maintained parallel to the surface and a trolley or sliding carriage which may be displaced along the guiding device and which is equipped with a skid pad subjected to a vertical load and a dynamometer which measures the tangential friction between pad and surface during the displacement of the trolley. A motor (26) drives the trolley at constant speed and a recorder records variations in tangential friction.
