Abstract

Plant for cleaning dust laden exhaust gases before their release to atmosphere consists of passing the gases down a series of verticle tubes into which is sprayed water. These discharge onto a channel through which runs a stream of water. This is located in a gas chamber which is exhausted through a chimney. A fan is mounted in the upper open end of the tubes giving a downwards thrust to the gas flow. The exhaust gas enters the tube at the side and the water spray is located between the fan and the gas inlet. The water channel has a V cross section and has a series of impingement baffles located above it, between it and the bottom end of the tubes. Esp. for use with technological plants such as coke plants, blast furnaces, steelworks etc. where atmospheric pollution from dust is a problem.
