Abstract

Knobs and controls on the dash panel of a vehicle are operated manually and use a helicoidal shaft in a guide. Marks on the knob indicate the function such as for the motor vehicle heating and ventilating system and whether the flow is towards the windscreen or occupants feet. A control shaft (2) for a motor vehicle heating and ventilating system passes through an opening (5) in a guide (4) mounted on the dash panel (1). A knob (3) on the shaft carries an indication (7) of the direction of flow of air either towards the windscreen or occupants feet and is dependent on extremes of position relative to a helicoidal twist in the shaft.
