Abstract

The double headed sprung telescopic catch is for use in holding automobile doors in the open position. The catches comprise axially aligned cowels (5a,5b) which are coupled by an intermediary coil spring (C). The spring forces the cowel heads (10) to project beyond fixed guidage sleeves (4a,4b), and they engage aligned holes (11a,11b) in a pivoting yoke (2). The cowel heads (10) are of truncated cone form obtg. a robust hard wearing detail. The yoke (2) is mounted on the door and also locates the door hinge pin. The hinge pin is mounted on a plate which cantilevers from the door post, and this plate also supports the catch.
