Abstract

The rapid action sluice to cut off the flow through adjacent lengths of pipe (1, 2) has a gate (24) which slides down into position closing the pipe section. The gate moves down into a circumferential gap between adjacent pipe length extremities, and sliding (16) collars with compression seals (6, 22). The collars are displaced oppositely to permit gate descent, by pivoting a lever through 180 deg. C. The gate (24) is a rectangular plate with a cut out (25) corresponding to the pipe cross-section, and the transmission from the lever to the mobile collar has a shaft (8) with an eccentric (9) and two push rods (21). The mobile collar (16) slides over the pipe by swinging about spindles (17) mounted on a support below. An eccentric system for regulating collar parallelism may be included.
