Abstract

The stage of the theatre has a screen of fine mesh stretched across the front. This separates the players from the audience in the theatre. Above the screen, on the players' side, are lights illuminating the stage, but not the screen. At the foot of, and in front of, the screen are other lights, controllable to illuminate the screen. Film projectors are located behind the audience and project images on the screen. This screen is partially reflecting and partially transparent and, depending on the relative lighting levels on each side, the audience see as part of, or separate from, the screen depicted.
