Abstract

Parent patent described mfr. of pallet boxes involving a body of corrugated cardboard or similar material and having two ancillary box channel profiles fixed to the underside of the box and to the sidewalls extending on opposite sides of the box. This addn. describes a modified base construction where the two sides walls are extended sufficiently to be folded and partially overlapped to produce >=3 rectangular profile channels beneath the box, two channels being adjacent to the edges of the base and one channel running between the open channels may be loaded with inserts of rigid expanded polystyrene, for enhanced stiffness with little weight penalty. Design avoids prefabrication and anchorage of independent components to define the lifting channels hence simplifying construction.
