Abstract
The process is used for casting round items such as gear-wheels, and uses a cylindrical casing of metal with high heat conductivity on a supporting surface. Inside the casing is fitted a lower core resting on the supporting surface and against the inside of the casing. An upper core is fitted from the top, resting on the top of the casing and incorporating a pouring gate. The internal space formed between the cores constitutes the mould into which the molten metal is poured. After pouring, the casing can be lifted by lugs on the outside; the casting and the core resting on the supporting surface being then removed.
