Abstract

The charging regulator, for a battery, allows several batteries to be coupled in parallel without modifying the supply circuitry. A high-power rectifier diode (2) between supply and battery permits charging from the supply and blocks discharging back into the supply. A self-regulating resistor (1) is connected in series with a second diode (3) across the first diode and is used to limit the charging current. This resistor can be shunted out by a switch (4). The self regulating resistor can be a battery of incandescent lamps or polurised semi-conductors.
