Abstract

The circuit limits the effective charging current for batteries of various nominal voltages. These batteries are charged via a single controlled rectifier. A reference voltage is produced which corresponds to the nominal voltage of the battery to be charged. The current delivered to the battery by the rectifier is tied to the reference voltage (15) so as to produce a control signal. This control signal has a variable width and is used to control the rectifier during the periods of possible flow of the charging current. The control signal has a rectangular shape and is synchronised with the signal delivered by the voltage supply of the rectifier.
