Abstract
A circuit controls the time of establishment of current in a line after the closing of an orthodox mechanical switch to the power supply. The design is intended to protect the switch contacts or a set of contactors and relays against arc damage etc. It is able to minimise oscillation in the power line. The load and switch are isolated by a thyristor (5) or triac. The cathode of the thyristor or triac is connected to the switch and the anode is connected to the load. The gate of the thyristor is controlled from a voltage stabiliser and an R.C. time delay circuit. An R.C. filter ensures that the gate control voltage is free of oscillation inducing signals.
