Abstract

The new soln. contain essential amino acid nitrogen in the following amts. per 16g total nitrogen: L-isoleucine N 700-800 mg; L-leucine N1200-1300 mg; L-lysine N 1400-1600 mg; L-methionine and L-cysteine N 490-560 mg; L-phenylalanine N400-460 mg; L-threonine N 600-700 mg; L-tryptophan N240-310 mg and L-valine N 900-980 mg. The relative amounts of the essential amino acids are so balanced as to give good incorporation of the nitrogen into the infant organism without giving rise to disorders of amino acid metabolism shown by imbalances in serum amino acid levels. Pref. solutions contain (per 16g total N) 745-770 mg-L-isoleucine N; 1240-1290 mg L-leucine N; 1450-1550mg L-lysine N; 520-550mg L-methionine and L-cysteine N; 410-450mg L-threonine N; 260-290 mg L-tryptophan N; and 910-960 mg L-valine N.
