Abstract

The valve element for use with the safety valve of a pressurised gas tank has a carrier to which the valve element is screwed. A spring (7) biasses the valve element to its closed position. The valve seat (5) is frusto conical, and decreases in cross section to a passage through which extends the stem of the carrier. The carrier and element offer a low resistance to the pressurised gas flow. The valve element (9) pref. has a conical or frusto conical form, the base (17) and side surface (16) being joined by a rounded portion (15). The carrier pref. has three radial arms spaed by 120 deg., the spring bearing against a shoulder (4) and support surfaces (13).
