Abstract

The coupling consists of a hub (1) on the ends of which a brake disc (2) and a coupling disc are mounted. The disc rims form a large diameter hydraulic cylinder. A central disc (4) is mounted between brake disc and coupling disc. The inner sect ion (5) of this disc forms a piston which fits into the cylinder on the brake disc. Springs (7) are mounted between the central disc and the coupling disc, so that the central disc is normally pushed towards the brake disc. In this position, a friction ring (12) attached to the frame is clamped between the central disc and the brake disc. When a hydraulic fluid is pushed into the cylinder on the brake disc, the central plate is pushed towards the coupling disc. In this position, the central disc clamps a second friction ring (13) against the coupling disc. This friction ring is attached to the flange of a drive.
