Abstract
The fastener is for cross straps on personnel parachute harnesses. It is used with a flexible connecting link to eliminate entanglement and provide a safe attachment. A metallic end ring fitting (3) is fastened to each harness strap (1) by means of an elongated ring (5) which passes transverly through the webbing. Another ring (6) adjacent to the first, has one end formed into a cup shape (8) with a slot for insertion of the flexible rod (12), joining the two harness straps. Each end of the connector is fixed to a spherical knob which prevens the connector from pulling out under tension. A locking pin prevents the wire being pulled through the slot accidentally. Additional rings (7, 20) maintain the plane of the main fixing ring (6) at right angles to the plane of the webbing.
