Abstract
A method of removing vapours of organic solvents, especially petroleum, from waste air in the tank, utilises an adsorption agent which, after it is charged with solvent vapour, is regenerated for reuse. The adsorption agent is housed in a portable adsorber, which is carried by the petrol tanker to the garage or other filler station and is connected temporarily to the gas space of the garage storage tank to purify the air or gas as it is expelled from this tank during filling. After the adsorber has become fully charged, it is removed again by the petroleum tanker and returned to a central tanker station, where it is regenerated for reuse. Pref. air is admixed into the vapour as it leaves the storage tank and enters the adsorber. The blower of the adsorber is pref. used for extracting the air from the garage tank. The handling, inspection and regeneration of the adsorber agent and adsorbers is carried out by specialised personnel at a central tanker station at the same time as the tankers are refilled. Thus the garage staff and tanker staff are relieved of responsibility in this respect.
