Abstract

The master operating cylinder is fitted with a sensor which monitors the brake pressure by the effect on the sealing gaskets of the cylinder. The monitor operates electric contacts when a set pressure is reached, which corresponds to a set brake pressue. This pressure level is chosen as the minimum level required to operate the hold-off brake cylinders. The hold-off cylinders are usually locked in the 'off' position and are released for parking control. The electric contacts operate a control light so that the driver can easily see if there is sufficient pressure to operate the parking brake safely.
