Abstract

A tilting window is supported by a arm (2) in the open position, which incorporates an automatic locking device. This arm consists of an outer portion (1) carrying a pivot pin at the bottom, engaging the frame. Inside this portion travels an inner portion (2) similarly pivoted at the top by a pin (5) on the window (6). At the inner end of the inner portion is a specially shaped cut out containing a flexible finger (7). This finger traps a roller (11) against the inside of the outer portion. As the window is opened, the roller is free to move under the curved part (9) of the finger. At a required position, a downwards force on the window causes the finger to trap the roller and lock the telescopic arm (1, 2).
