Abstract

The joint for earthenware pipes has a flexible seal. The internal cylindrical sleeve face n12) has a seating (20) perpendicular to the sleeve (18) axis and cap (34) has a flat face (4) seating on the seating (20). An edge (40) of the seal (38) and the body (32) are sized so that when a male part (8) is introduced a proper seal is established. The body (32) has an axial extension which gives added compression. The flat face (44) is virtually undeformable end the cap (34) resists bending due to a rigid metal ring (36) which is embedded in it. The cap has at least three soft centring buttons.
