Abstract

The prefabricated unit comprises an extended T-section beam which acts as a sill and also links the two pillars. the gates themselves are hung on hinge-pins which are incorporated in the pillars during the casting process. The sill and pillars can either be cast separately and later bolted together or alternatively cast in one piece. The unit is delivered completely finished and only has to be lifted off the lorry and placed on a light foundation made of sand or cement. It the unit has been cast in one piece, the gates can also be hung prior to delivery. Items such as a pillar-box or dustbin holder can easily be incorporated into the pillars during the casting process.
