Abstract

An electric iron has a power cable which passes through a guide sleeve attached to the rear of the iron and is connected to a socket of the heating element of the iron. The longitudinal axis of the guide sleeve lies transversely of the longitudinal median plane of the iron, and is provided with symmetrical fixing elements so that it can be easily detached from the iron and positioned to project from one side of the iron or the other without disconnecting the cable. The length of the sleeve is sufficient to allow the cable to be wound around it when not in use. The iron can be easily adapted so that the power cable exits from one side of the iron or the other, thereby making the iron simpler to use.
