Abstract

The samples of maize sees (E1-E8) are inserted into lattice cells (A1-A8) on a drum (2) fixed on a rotating shaft (3) driven, for example, by a motor (4). The drum is positioned above a container (5) of water (6) so that half the cells are immersed whilst the second half are exposed to the air, during rotation of the drum. The time span of running is observed and the water kept at 15 deg.C. After the set rotation period, the seeds of one group are removed from their cell and examined for the number which have germinated. This is repeated for each group of seeds.
