Abstract

In a light-sensitive printing material comprising a substrate with a negative-working light-sensitive layer contg. an almost water-insol. oleophilic film-forming resin (I) and a light-sensitive diazonium resin salt (II), which is soluble in organic solvents, in at least 3:1 wt. ratio, the improvement comprises the use of a mixt. of an epoxide resin (Ia) and a resin (Ib) contg. free OH and/or COOH gps. in 2-0.75:1, pref. 0.9-1.2:1 wt. ratio as (I). The claims also cover a developer, which is esp. suitable for this material, comprising 3-10 wt.% C6H5CH2OH (III), 0.5-3 wt.% protective colloid (pref. an alginate), a few percent of an ionic surfactant (pref. C12H25O. SP3NA), a small amt. of a cpd. for adjusting the pH to 8.5-10.5 and opt. a few percent of a 3-5C or 9-11 C aliphatic alcohol, dissolved in min. 70, pref. min. 85 wt.% water. The material is useful for the prodn. of printing plates, esp. lithographic plates. The plates can be used for editions of over 50,000 prints and development can be carried out in ca. 1 min. witha high degree of selectivity.
