Abstract

An automatic control system for a furnace is used to operate two or more seat sources, one in the bottom of the furnace, the temperature being controlled by a thermostat and a timing system so that all, or one or more of the heat sources are operated according to a programme. All the heaters are operated in readiness for the working cycle so that a given temperature is reached, then afterwards the heaters are operated intermittently according to the programmed switching sequence. Each heater has its own controller, switching system and programmer with timer. The temperature controller has a comparator connected to a temperature sensor inside the furnace, the temperature programmer, and directly to the temperature control system and to a cyclically operating control device which operates when the monitored temperature falls below a given level.
