Abstract

The diaphragm for use in a vehicle clutch has a periphery forming a Belleville spring, and a radially slotted inner portion. Alternate slots open into the central aperture of the diaphragm, the other slots being closed at their inner ends. The outer ends of all the slots have enlarged openings, the inner ends of the closed slots being curved. Radial slits may extend from the inner ends of the closed slots to the central aperture of the diaphragm. The inner ends of the slot openings are joined to the slots by curved portions.
