Abstract

The coupling device is intended especially for a semiconductor laser and uses a cavity resonator for connection to optical fibres. At the location of the fibre faces the cavity resonator has an aperture. The coupling cavity resonator forms a part of the laser resonator proper. The optimum transmission of laser energy by optical fibres is attained when the connecting line between the two apertures runs across the respective side walls of the cavity resonators. With the small dimensions of all components parts, this requirement is conventionally very difficult to meet. The coupling design obviates these difficulties.
